	1Samuel 20
1Samuel 20:1	And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
1Samuel 20:2	And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will shew it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
1Samuel 20:3	And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
1Samuel 20:4	Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.
1Samuel 20:5	And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.
1Samuel 20:6	If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
1Samuel 20:7	If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.
1Samuel 20:8	Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?
1Samuel 20:9	And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
1Samuel 20:10	Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?
1Samuel 20:11	And Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
1Samuel 20:12	And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee;
1Samuel 20:13	The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
1Samuel 20:14	And thou shalt not only while yet I live shew me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:
1Samuel 20:15	But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
1Samuel 20:16	So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David’s enemies.
1Samuel 20:17	And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
1Samuel 20:18	Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.
1Samuel 20:19	And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
1Samuel 20:20	And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.
1Samuel 20:21	And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to thee, and no hurt; as the LORD liveth.
1Samuel 20:22	But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.
1Samuel 20:23	And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.
1Samuel 20:24	So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
1Samuel 20:25	And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul’s side, and David’s place was empty.
1Samuel 20:26	Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.
1Samuel 20:27	And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?
1Samuel 20:28	And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:
1Samuel 20:29	And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king’s table.
1Samuel 20:30	Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness?
1Samuel 20:31	For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
1Samuel 20:32	And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?
1Samuel 20:33	And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
1Samuel 20:34	So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
1Samuel 20:35	And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
1Samuel 20:36	And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
1Samuel 20:37	And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?
1Samuel 20:38	And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan’s lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
1Samuel 20:39	But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
1Samuel 20:40	And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.
1Samuel 20:41	And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
1Samuel 20:42	And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.

	Proverbs 14
Proverbs 14:1	Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
Proverbs 14:2	He that walketh in his uprightness feareth the LORD: but he that is perverse in his ways despiseth him.
Proverbs 14:3	In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.
Proverbs 14:4	Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox.
Proverbs 14:5	A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
Proverbs 14:6	A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: but knowledge is easy unto him that understandeth.
Proverbs 14:7	Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
Proverbs 14:8	The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit.
Proverbs 14:9	Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour.
Proverbs 14:10	The heart knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.
Proverbs 14:11	The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
Proverbs 14:12	There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 14:13	Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
Proverbs 14:14	The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
Proverbs 14:15	The simple believeth every word: but the prudent man looketh well to his going.
Proverbs 14:16	A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.
Proverbs 14:17	He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.
Proverbs 14:18	The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.
Proverbs 14:19	The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
Proverbs 14:20	The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
Proverbs 14:21	He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
Proverbs 14:22	Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
Proverbs 14:23	In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
Proverbs 14:24	The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
Proverbs 14:25	A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.
Proverbs 14:26	In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Proverbs 14:27	The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.
Proverbs 14:28	In the multitude of people is the king’s honour: but in the want of people is the destruction of the prince.
Proverbs 14:29	He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Proverbs 14:30	A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.
Proverbs 14:31	He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.
Proverbs 14:32	The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.
Proverbs 14:33	Wisdom resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is made known.
Proverbs 14:34	Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Proverbs 14:35	The king’s favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.

	1Corinthians 9
1Corinthians 9:1	Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
1Corinthians 9:2	If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
1Corinthians 9:3	Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,
1Corinthians 9:4	Have we not power to eat and to drink?
1Corinthians 9:5	Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
1Corinthians 9:6	Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
1Corinthians 9:7	Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
1Corinthians 9:8	Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
1Corinthians 9:9	For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
1Corinthians 9:10	Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
1Corinthians 9:11	If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
1Corinthians 9:12	If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
1Corinthians 9:13	Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
1Corinthians 9:14	Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
1Corinthians 9:15	But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
1Corinthians 9:16	For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
1Corinthians 9:17	For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
1Corinthians 9:18	What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
1Corinthians 9:19	For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
1Corinthians 9:20	And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
1Corinthians 9:21	To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
1Corinthians 9:22	To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
1Corinthians 9:23	And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
1Corinthians 9:24	Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
1Corinthians 9:25	And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
1Corinthians 9:26	I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
1Corinthians 9:27	But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

	Mark 12
Mark 12:1	And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
Mark 12:2	And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
Mark 12:3	And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
Mark 12:4	And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully handled.
Mark 12:5	And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others; beating some, and killing some.
Mark 12:6	Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
Mark 12:7	But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
Mark 12:8	And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the vineyard.
Mark 12:9	What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
Mark 12:10	And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
Mark 12:11	This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Mark 12:12	And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.
Mark 12:13	And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to catch him in his words.
Mark 12:14	And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?
Mark 12:15	Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
Mark 12:16	And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar’s.
Mark 12:17	And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled at him.
Mark 12:18	Then come unto him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,
Mark 12:19	Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
Mark 12:20	Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.
Mark 12:21	And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.
Mark 12:22	And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.
Mark 12:23	In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.
Mark 12:24	And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?
Mark 12:25	For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
Mark 12:26	And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
Mark 12:27	He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.
Mark 12:28	And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
Mark 12:29	And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
Mark 12:30	And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mark 12:31	And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mark 12:32	And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
Mark 12:33	And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Mark 12:34	And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
Mark 12:35	And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David?
Mark 12:36	For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Mark 12:37	David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son? And the common people heard him gladly.
Mark 12:38	And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces,
Mark 12:39	And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts:
Mark 12:40	Which devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
Mark 12:41	And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
Mark 12:42	And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
Mark 12:43	And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
Mark 12:44	For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
