Joshua 9 |
| Joshua 9:1 | And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof; |
| Joshua 9:2 | That they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord. |
| Joshua 9:3 | And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai, |
| Joshua 9:4 | They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up; |
| Joshua 9:5 | And old shoes and clouted upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and mouldy. |
| Joshua 9:6 | And they went to Joshua unto the camp at Gilgal, and said unto him, and to the men of Israel, We be come from a far country: now therefore make ye a league with us. |
| Joshua 9:7 | And the men of Israel said unto the Hivites, Peradventure ye dwell among us; and how shall we make a league with you? |
| Joshua 9:8 | And they said unto Joshua, We are thy servants. And Joshua said unto them, Who are ye? and from whence come ye? |
| Joshua 9:9 | And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the LORD thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt, |
| Joshua 9:10 | And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth. |
| Joshua 9:11 | Wherefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spake to us, saying, Take victuals with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say unto them, We are your servants: therefore now make ye a league with us. |
| Joshua 9:12 | This our bread we took hot for our provision out of our houses on the day we came forth to go unto you; but now, behold, it is dry, and it is mouldy: |
| Joshua 9:13 | And these bottles of wine, which we filled, were new; and, behold, they be rent: and these our garments and our shoes are become old by reason of the very long journey. |
| Joshua 9:14 | And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the LORD. |
| Joshua 9:15 | And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them. |
| Joshua 9:16 | And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them. |
| Joshua 9:17 | And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjathjearim. |
| Joshua 9:18 | And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes. |
| Joshua 9:19 | But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the LORD God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them. |
| Joshua 9:20 | This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them. |
| Joshua 9:21 | And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them. |
| Joshua 9:22 | And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us? |
| Joshua 9:23 | Now therefore ye are cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bondmen, and hewers of wood and drawers of water for the house of my God. |
| Joshua 9:24 | And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the LORD thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing. |
| Joshua 9:25 | And now, behold, we are in thine hand: as it seemeth good and right unto thee to do unto us, do. |
| Joshua 9:26 | And so did he unto them, and delivered them out of the hand of the children of Israel, that they slew them not. |
| Joshua 9:27 | And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the LORD, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose. |

Habakkuk 1 |
| Habakkuk 1:1 | The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see. |
| Habakkuk 1:2 | O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save! |
| Habakkuk 1:3 | Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. |
| Habakkuk 1:4 | Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. |
| Habakkuk 1:5 | Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. |
| Habakkuk 1:6 | For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs. |
| Habakkuk 1:7 | They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves. |
| Habakkuk 1:8 | Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat. |
| Habakkuk 1:9 | They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. |
| Habakkuk 1:10 | And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it. |
| Habakkuk 1:11 | Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god. |
| Habakkuk 1:12 | Art thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. |
| Habakkuk 1:13 | Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he? |
| Habakkuk 1:14 | And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? |
| Habakkuk 1:15 | They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad. |
| Habakkuk 1:16 | Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. |
| Habakkuk 1:17 | Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations? |

2Peter 1 |
| 2Peter 1:1 | Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ: |
| 2Peter 1:2 | Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, |
| 2Peter 1:3 | According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: |
| 2Peter 1:4 | Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. |
| 2Peter 1:5 | And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; |
| 2Peter 1:6 | And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; |
| 2Peter 1:7 | And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. |
| 2Peter 1:8 | For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 2Peter 1:9 | But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. |
| 2Peter 1:10 | Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: |
| 2Peter 1:11 | For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. |
| 2Peter 1:12 | Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. |
| 2Peter 1:13 | Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; |
| 2Peter 1:14 | Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. |
| 2Peter 1:15 | Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance. |
| 2Peter 1:16 | For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. |
| 2Peter 1:17 | For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. |
| 2Peter 1:18 | And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. |
| 2Peter 1:19 | We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: |
| 2Peter 1:20 | Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. |
| 2Peter 1:21 | For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. |

Acts 26 |
| Acts 26:1 | Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself: |
| Acts 26:2 | I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews: |
| Acts 26:3 | Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently. |
| Acts 26:4 | My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews; |
| Acts 26:5 | Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee. |
| Acts 26:6 | And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: |
| Acts 26:7 | Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews. |
| Acts 26:8 | Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead? |
| Acts 26:9 | I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. |
| Acts 26:10 | Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. |
| Acts 26:11 | And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities. |
| Acts 26:12 | Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, |
| Acts 26:13 | At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. |
| Acts 26:14 | And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. |
| Acts 26:15 | And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. |
| Acts 26:16 | But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; |
| Acts 26:17 | Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, |
| Acts 26:18 | To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. |
| Acts 26:19 | Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: |
| Acts 26:20 | But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. |
| Acts 26:21 | For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. |
| Acts 26:22 | Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: |
| Acts 26:23 | That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. |
| Acts 26:24 | And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. |
| Acts 26:25 | But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. |
| Acts 26:26 | For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. |
| Acts 26:27 | King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. |
| Acts 26:28 | Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. |
| Acts 26:29 | And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds. |
| Acts 26:30 | And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them: |
| Acts 26:31 | And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds. |
| Acts 26:32 | Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Caesar. |
