1Samuel 23 |
| 1Samuel 23:1 | Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors. |
| 1Samuel 23:2 | Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah. |
| 1Samuel 23:3 | And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines? |
| 1Samuel 23:4 | Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah: for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand. |
| 1Samuel 23:5 | So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. |
| 1Samuel 23:6 | And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand. |
| 1Samuel 23:7 | And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars. |
| 1Samuel 23:8 | And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men. |
| 1Samuel 23:9 | And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod. |
| 1Samuel 23:10 | Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. |
| 1Samuel 23:11 | Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down. |
| 1Samuel 23:12 | Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up. |
| 1Samuel 23:13 | Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth. |
| 1Samuel 23:14 | And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand. |
| 1Samuel 23:15 | And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood. |
| 1Samuel 23:16 | And Jonathan Saul’s son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God. |
| 1Samuel 23:17 | And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth. |
| 1Samuel 23:18 | And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house. |
| 1Samuel 23:19 | Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon? |
| 1Samuel 23:20 | Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand. |
| 1Samuel 23:21 | And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me. |
| 1Samuel 23:22 | Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtly. |
| 1Samuel 23:23 | See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah. |
| 1Samuel 23:24 | And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon. |
| 1Samuel 23:25 | Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon. |
| 1Samuel 23:26 | And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them. |
| 1Samuel 23:27 | But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land. |
| 1Samuel 23:28 | Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth. |
| 1Samuel 23:29 | And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi. |

Proverbs 17 |
| Proverbs 17:1 | Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife. |
| Proverbs 17:2 | A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causeth shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brethren. |
| Proverbs 17:3 | The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts. |
| Proverbs 17:4 | A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue. |
| Proverbs 17:5 | Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished. |
| Proverbs 17:6 | Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers. |
| Proverbs 17:7 | Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince. |
| Proverbs 17:8 | A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth. |
| Proverbs 17:9 | He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. |
| Proverbs 17:10 | A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool. |
| Proverbs 17:11 | An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him. |
| Proverbs 17:12 | Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly. |
| Proverbs 17:13 | Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house. |
| Proverbs 17:14 | The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with. |
| Proverbs 17:15 | He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD. |
| Proverbs 17:16 | Wherefore is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he hath no heart to it? |
| Proverbs 17:17 | A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. |
| Proverbs 17:18 | A man void of understanding striketh hands, and becometh surety in the presence of his friend. |
| Proverbs 17:19 | He loveth transgression that loveth strife: and he that exalteth his gate seeketh destruction. |
| Proverbs 17:20 | He that hath a froward heart findeth no good: and he that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief. |
| Proverbs 17:21 | He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool hath no joy. |
| Proverbs 17:22 | A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones. |
| Proverbs 17:23 | A wicked man taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment. |
| Proverbs 17:24 | Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. |
| Proverbs 17:25 | A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him. |
| Proverbs 17:26 | Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity. |
| Proverbs 17:27 | He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. |
| Proverbs 17:28 | Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding. |

1Corinthians 12 |
| 1Corinthians 12:1 | Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. |
| 1Corinthians 12:2 | Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. |
| 1Corinthians 12:3 | Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. |
| 1Corinthians 12:4 | Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. |
| 1Corinthians 12:5 | And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. |
| 1Corinthians 12:6 | And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. |
| 1Corinthians 12:7 | But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. |
| 1Corinthians 12:8 | For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; |
| 1Corinthians 12:9 | To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; |
| 1Corinthians 12:10 | To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: |
| 1Corinthians 12:11 | But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. |
| 1Corinthians 12:12 | For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. |
| 1Corinthians 12:13 | For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. |
| 1Corinthians 12:14 | For the body is not one member, but many. |
| 1Corinthians 12:15 | If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? |
| 1Corinthians 12:16 | And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? |
| 1Corinthians 12:17 | If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? |
| 1Corinthians 12:18 | But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. |
| 1Corinthians 12:19 | And if they were all one member, where were the body? |
| 1Corinthians 12:20 | But now are they many members, yet but one body. |
| 1Corinthians 12:21 | And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. |
| 1Corinthians 12:22 | Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: |
| 1Corinthians 12:23 | And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. |
| 1Corinthians 12:24 | For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: |
| 1Corinthians 12:25 | That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. |
| 1Corinthians 12:26 | And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. |
| 1Corinthians 12:27 | Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. |
| 1Corinthians 12:28 | And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. |
| 1Corinthians 12:29 | Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? |
| 1Corinthians 12:30 | Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? |
| 1Corinthians 12:31 | But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. |

Mark 15 |
| Mark 15:1 | And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. |
| Mark 15:2 | And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it. |
| Mark 15:3 | And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing. |
| Mark 15:4 | And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee. |
| Mark 15:5 | But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled. |
| Mark 15:6 | Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired. |
| Mark 15:7 | And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection. |
| Mark 15:8 | And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them. |
| Mark 15:9 | But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews? |
| Mark 15:10 | For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy. |
| Mark 15:11 | But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them. |
| Mark 15:12 | And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews? |
| Mark 15:13 | And they cried out again, Crucify him. |
| Mark 15:14 | Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him. |
| Mark 15:15 | And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified. |
| Mark 15:16 | And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band. |
| Mark 15:17 | And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, |
| Mark 15:18 | And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! |
| Mark 15:19 | And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him. |
| Mark 15:20 | And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him. |
| Mark 15:21 | And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross. |
| Mark 15:22 | And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull. |
| Mark 15:23 | And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not. |
| Mark 15:24 | And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. |
| Mark 15:25 | And it was the third hour, and they crucified him. |
| Mark 15:26 | And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF THE JEWS. |
| Mark 15:27 | And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. |
| Mark 15:28 | And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. |
| Mark 15:29 | And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, |
| Mark 15:30 | Save thyself, and come down from the cross. |
| Mark 15:31 | Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. |
| Mark 15:32 | Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him. |
| Mark 15:33 | And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. |
| Mark 15:34 | And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? |
| Mark 15:35 | And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias. |
| Mark 15:36 | And one ran and filled a sponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down. |
| Mark 15:37 | And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost. |
| Mark 15:38 | And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. |
| Mark 15:39 | And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God. |
| Mark 15:40 | There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; |
| Mark 15:41 | (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem. |
| Mark 15:42 | And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, |
| Mark 15:43 | Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. |
| Mark 15:44 | And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. |
| Mark 15:45 | And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. |
| Mark 15:46 | And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre. |
| Mark 15:47 | And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid. |
